Pick Fresh Peaches
Nothing says summer in Chesapeake like running through the fragrant rows of peach trees, finding that perfect peach ripe for picking. Mount Pleasant Farms is a family owned peach orchard with over 1,900 peach trees. The farm also offers Virginia peanuts, candy, ciders and fresh eggs in their country store.
Towne Place Summer Concert Series
Free concerts held every Thursday night, 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Held near the center's gazebo, concert goers should bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating, or enjoy the music from any of the center's outdoor restaurant patios. Beer, wine and bottled water sold on site.
Go Camping
Northwest River Park & Campground is located on the banks of the beautiful Northwest River. This 763-acre park perfectly blends natural beauty and recreational activities. There’s plenty to love about this four-time winner of “Best of Chesapeake,” including camping, mini golf, canoe and boat rental and more. Be sure to check out their cabins available for rent and turn camping in to "glamping".
Chesapeake Campground has everything you need in order to fully enjoy your camping experience and the great outdoors! Activities include mini-golf, pony rides, swimming, tennis and basketball courts, a driving range for golfers and bike, canoe and John Boat rentals.
Chesapeake Planetarium
The wonders of the summer sky will be explored as you examine the summer constellations, and some of the mythology associated with these stars. You will learn about some of the celestial objects in the summer sky, and demonstrate methods of locating them with a small telescope or binoculars. The Chesapeake Planetarium offers free viewings every Thursday evening, reservations encouraged.
Rolling on the River Food Truck Event
The Rolling on the River food truck series is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday through September. Enjoy food trucks by Eat the Streets 757, enjoy great music, games, dancing, and vendors at the beautiful Elizabeth River Park. At the end of the evening enjoy one of the most picturesque sunsets on the east coast.
