Rainy Day Fun

Don’t let a little rain get in the way of a lot of fun! There are so many interesting things to do indoors on a Chesapeake rainy day, from a game of laser tag to making your own pottery. Here’s what to do when it rains in Chesapeake, VA.

Play All Day

With 40 bowling lanes, an arcade, and billiards, there’s no shortage of activities to keep the kids busy and happy on a rainy day at Bowlero - Chesapeake. Adults will love the bar serving up craft beer and signature cocktails, and the kitchen has plenty of lunch or dinner options for all. Alternatively, if your crew loves bowling and laser tag, head over to the AMF Bowling Center - Western Branch Lanes where all ages will delight in playing in their state-of-the-art arena. Whether you want to play solo or compete as a team, come enjoy a competitive game of laser tag.

If your group is fond of the ice in a controlled environment, then head over to the Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex. As the area’s top ice sports facility, they offer public skating sessions and learn-to-skate programs. It’s also the official training facility for the Norfolk Admirals, a pro ECHL team, which should delight any hockey fans in your crew.

Jump It Out

DEFY Chesapeake is another active way to enjoy indoor fun. Offering 10,000 square feet of connected, world-class trampolines, there are more than 60 trampolines, including the famous angled wall trampolines, and a few other surprises along the course. Open every day of the week, DEFY Chesapeake is not to be missed.

Another great way to get up in the air and forget about the rain? Jump all day at Bounce House. With a special place for smaller kids and small inflatables for toddlers, all ages will have a blast here as they jump around on a range of jumping castles, from Disney-themed to a barn-house bounce house complete with inflatable farm animals.

If you’ve still got energy to burn, spend an afternoon at the Funville Playground & Cafe. A 3,300-foot indoor playground, older kids will enjoy the bumper cars, jungle-themed playground, and challenging ropes course. Toddlers will clamor for the Toddler Playground designed for sitters and crawlers, and parents will appreciate the abundance of seating and a full menu of food for kids and adults alike.

Indoor Activities

For those more interested in the arts or who are looking for more of an intellectual challenge, Chesapeake has you covered as well. Paint something beautiful to take home with you at Glazenfyre: A Paint-It-Yourself Pottery Studio. Or visit the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways Museum where you will be immersed in Chesapeake history.

Finally, the old rainy day activities standby is a classic for a reason—everyone loves a good, cozy evening at the movies. Catch a flick at Cinema Cafe - Greenbrier Mall, and be sure to peruse their extensive and creative menu and maybe try their signature Children of the Corn Dog Nuggets or Moaning Myrtle Turtle Sundae.
