September 29th is National Coffee Day and what better way to celebrate than stopping in at one of Chesapeake's coffee shops. From small coffeehouses to small-batch roasters, you are sure to find that perfect cup of coffee.
This veteran-owned business has a passion for great coffee. They air-roast their premium beans in small batches from their roaster right here in Chesapeake. From light to dark roast and flavors like Pumpkin Cream Pie and Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble, a delicious cup of coffee is guaranteed. Their coffee shop is open 6 AM – 9 PM on weekdays and 8 AM – 4 PM on weekends. Can’t make it in, they also offer online ordering.
This small-batch roasting company and coffee shop values bold flavors and drinkability in every cup. Their online store offers coffee beans and cold brew, but you can stop in at their shop located inside of Big Ugly Brewing Company for a great cup of coffee and one of their many breakfast offerings. They are open Tuesday – Friday 8 AM – 2 PM and Saturday 8 AM – 12 PM.
Though they have barely been open a year, Battlegrounds Coffeehouse & Grill has already become a local’s favorite. Fall brings offerings such as Pumpkin Cold Brew with maple pecan cold foam and the Sweet Potato Latte with double espresso, house sweet potato simple, toasted marshmallow, cinnamon, and candied pecans. Hungry? You will want to try their Horchata French Toast or an order of Chaffles – keto-friendly, doughless waffles made with eggs, cheddar cheese, green chiles, and your choice of meat. Open daily from 7 AM – 2 PM.
Gather Café is a local coffee shop where giving back to the community defines everything they do with 100% of their profits going back to help those in need. Coffee offerings include espresso, frappes, and La Columbe® on tap. Their breakfast and lunch menu includes everything from toasts to salads to wraps. Don’t forget to grab a baked good before you leave from local bakery Sweet Haven Baked Goods. Open Monday – Saturday 8 AM – 6 PM and Sunday 10 AM – 3 PM.
