Day One

Visit one of the oldest churches in America.  For nearly four centuries, Historic St. Luke's Church has persevered through war, destruction, misuse and abandonment, witnessing the great events of our nation's history.  From here head over to the "Mansion on Main".  Visit this 1889 architectural showpiece that stands proudly on the corner of the original colonial roads of Main and Church Streets.  The mansion features museum- Steeped in comfort and tradition reminiscent of simpler times, the Inn offers guests good food and a relaxed atmosphere.  After lunch stroll the historic streets of Smithfield which offers antique collectors and shoppers a plethora of options.  End the day with dinner around the Chesapeake Square area of Chesapeake.

Day Two

Relax along a tree-lined riverbank at the Hermitage Foundation Museum in Norfolk.  This early 20th century historic home appears frozen in time, offering visitors an extraordinary trip through antiquity.  The museum and gardens consists of a world-wide art collections and contemporary exhibition galleries, all surrounded by twelve acres of formal gardens and natural woodlands.  Next, head over to Rowena's Specialty Cakes & Drizzles.  Visit a delightful world of jams, jellies and cakes.  Everything made in small quantities to keep that "homemade" flavor for which Rowena's is famous.  Stay for lunch and enjoy a true tea and after lunch take a tour of the factory where they make their delicious desserts, cakes, jams and jellies.  Next, head to downtown Portsmouth for a self-guided walking tour of Olde Towne.  This walking tour takes you to 45 sites in the historic district, about one mile total.  Take in an early dinner at one of the many restaurants in Olde Towne Portsmouth before boarding a sunset cruise aboard the "Spirit of Independence"!  This schooner presents over 1,700 square feet of sail.  She has two masts and wide decks that will give you the ride of a lifetime through the many harbors of Hampton Roads.  As the sun sets in the western sky, it is usually painted with the most beautiful sunsets imaginable.  As the sun disappears, it is like someone backstage turning up a wonderful display of harbor lights and city skyline.

We invite you to take it all in: outdoor sports galore, easy access to the Atlantic Ocean, a vibrant musical and cultural scene, historic sites ripe for exploring, shopping ranging from the fine to funky, and picturesque strolls in a green and beautifully preserved environment.  Oddly enough with so much to find here, you may just lose yourself!
