Boater Safety Course

Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism, in partnership with U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, will be hosting a FREE NASBLA approved safe-boating course. This course meets the Virginia and North Carolina safe-boating course requirement. If you are interested in an exciting, in-depth boating-safety course, check out this in classroom (seminar) version of our popular online boating course. This beginner boating class will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in many states. Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete “About Boating Safety.”

Reservations required. Ages: 13 years and older. TOPICS INCLUDE: Introduction to Boating, Boating Law, Boat Safety Equipment, Safe Boating, Navigation, Boating Problems, Trailering, Storing and Protecting Your Boat, Hunting and Fishing, Water-skiing and River Boating.

This is an 8 hour DGIF course presented over 8 hours on a Saturday. Class distribution of materials is made at the first meeting so please arrive 15-20 minutes early.
