overview

Join us for a new, free family-friendly program where we explore local history on a bike! May is National Bike Month and National Historic Preservation Month. We are excited to celebrate these activities together with a 4-mile bike ride on the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail. We will visit local landmarks to discuss the history and architecture that is unique to Chesapeake.

The ride will depart from the Ballahack Boat Ramp (3700 Dismal Swamp Canal Trail) at 12:00 PM. We will stop to discuss the Superintendent's House, visit the Cornland School, and then proceed to Douglas Road and back. We encourage participants to bring their own bikes and personal safety equipment.

This program is limited to 25 participants and registration is required.

Limited number of bikes are available to rent. If interested in renting Parks, Recreation and Tourism equipment, please call (757) 382-1360.
