B.J. Pryor: Benjamin Franklin Interpretation

Join B.J. Pryor as he portrays Benjamin Franklin during 1776 for our 2026 History Speaks Lecture Series. Dr. Benjamin Franklin will tell you how he went from royalist to ardent advocate for American Independence; how he spent the pivotal year of 1776; and discuss what the American Revolution means.  And then, he will answer your questions.

B.J. Pryor's Bio: In 1776 Benjamin Franklin turned 70 years old; in 2026 B. J. Pryor will do the same. For the last 10 years, Mr. Pryor has been portraying Dr. Franklin for schools, museums, and events. Previous to that, he spent nearly 40 years at Colonial Williamsburg, portraying people as diverse as a Quaker innkeeper and the royal governor. He first came to Virginia as a William & Mary freshman and still lives in Williamsburg.
