Annual South Norfolk July 4th Parade & Picnic in the Park

Our annual Patriotic Parade and Picnic in the Park event in South Norfolk at Lakeside Park in Chesapeake Virginia is always lead by the color guard. Up to 100 units may appear, including hundreds of individuals, marching bands, dance groups, floats, old cars, new cars and funny cars. Follow the parade to the celebration in the park! Parade starts at 10:00 AM. Arrive and park early for better parking and parade watching spots. Some streets are closed for the parade, so park and find your spot by 9:00 AM. Celebration at Lakeside Park follows immediately, beginning with opening ceremony. A featured musical artist will play from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

IMPORTANT INFO:
This is a fun, affordable, family event. You may bring chairs, coolers, umbrellas, and drinking water, however, alcohol is not allowed. Well-behaved dogs (cats, pigs, birds, iguanas, what-have-you) attached by a maximum 5-foot leash to owners who watch over and pick up after the pet(s) are welcome.

The PICNIC in the PARK, starts after the parade until 3:00 PM. Some activities may require a small fee. Proceeds benefit scholarships, community organizations and civic projects in South Norfolk. Thousands of folks will pour into Lakeside Park for food, drinks, live music, entertainment, crafts, contests, prizes and children’s activities.
