Chesapeake Conventions & Tourism announces the addition of Jamie Mitchell, CMP, as the newest member of its sales team. She is a sales manager for the growing office and a dynamic addition to the city's effort to market and entrench itself as a destination for groups of all sizes.
Mitchell comes to Chesapeake from the Hampton CVB where she served as a group sales manager. In her new role, Jamie is responsible for marketing the City of Chesapeake as a meeting destination. Mitchell's focus is on the religious, fraternal, and association markets. Working directly with the city's conference center, hotels, and attractions, she'll organize and execute site visits, familiarization tours and bid presentations as well as represent the city at industry events and trade shows across the country.
A graduate of Christopher Newport University, Mitchell earned her B.A. with a concentration in commercial tourism and later went on to secure the designation of a certified meeting professional (CMP). She is affiliated with several professional associations including RCMA, DMAI, SGMP, VSAE, and MPI.
Additionally, Mitchell makes time to volunteer in her community. She assists local athletic teams with travel coordination, is an active member of the Airborne community and coordinates children's ministries at her church. Mitchell currently resides in Portsmouth with her husband and son.
"By adding Jamie to our sales team, we are taking the next step in fulfilling Chesapeake's desire to attract the dedicated group and meeting travel market," says Kim Murden, Chesapeake Conventions and Tourism director. "We have several wonderful, new hotel properties opening this fall and look forward to helping fill rooms in tandem with hosting year-round meetings and events at the Conference Center."
Established in 2002, the office of the Chesapeake Conventions & Tourism oversees all leisure, group and meeting travel marketing for the city.
