Big fun doesn't have to cost big bucks. At Chesapeake City Park and Great Bridge Lock Park, admission is always free. The beautiful Chesapeake Arboretum always opens its doors to the public, while the Chesapeake Planetarium never charges for stargazing. Kids can enjoy our three-acre Fun Forest and Chilled Ponds skating rink.

For outdoor fun, go wild at the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge with over 112,000 acres of forested wetlands. Pristine Lake Drummond and the Northwest River Park offer natural recreation at its finest! And if you want to hit the beach, the Virginia Beach Oceanfront is only a 15 minute drive away.

For fast-paced fun, take the family to any of our nearby amusement parks like Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Water Country USA, Ocean Breeze Waterpark and Wild Water Rapids.

Like a little culture on your vacations? Portlock Galleries at SoNo features changing displays, special touring exhibits, and visitor center and gift shop. History buffs won't want to miss the NAUTICUS, USS Wisconsin, the majestic ship that earned five battle stars during World War II and its museum. Interested in science? Take a day trip to Virginia Air & Space Center, the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, or the Children's Museum of Virginia.
