Chesapeake Golf

"What other people may find in poetry or art museums, I find in the flight of a good drive." ~Arnold Palmer

With two 18-hole golf courses located about 30 minutes from Norfolk International Airport, plus putt and disc golf just outside of town, everyone from novice golfers to retired pros will find Chesapeake’s options to be a hole-in-one.

Play With the Pros

Drop by the Battlefield Golf Club, where a PGA pro is available to help you take strokes off your game. This Coastal Virginia hidden gem challenges golfers with elevation changes and plenty of water hazards, making it difficult enough even for those with lower handicaps. Whether you’re there solo or bringing the whole family to tee-off, the picturesque Bermuda greens and friendly staff will be ready for an incredible 18 holes.

An Upscale Course With Affordable Options

Open to the public but with the amenities of a private club, the Chesapeake Golf Club offers a refined and intimate setting.

There are plenty of classes to choose from including private and group lessons or tutorials to help you out with a specific swing or stance. Those who have questions about the history of the game—or simply want to make sure they’re behaving as safely and respectfully as possible—should sign up for the golf etiquette class. Here, rules and protocols will be fully explored so you’re sure to impress others with your knowledge of penalty strokes and ball placement.

And, for young golfers, July and August offer week-long Junior Camps for the kiddos. Make sure they pack a swimsuit to take advantage of the Club’s impressive pool. Hoping to spruce up your outfit or simply grab a souvenir? Head to the Pro Shop before leaving!

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, a day on the Chesapeake Golf Club greens is guaranteed to be a good one.

Family Fun on the Course, Of Course

Northwest River Park is the ideal place for family-friendly adventures. Try your hand at a round—or two!—of mini-golf where, for a reasonable fee, you and your crew can play for hours on this shaded putt course surrounded by trees.

For those in search of a place to toss a driver or two, Chesapeake’s very own disc golf course is waiting with 18 baskets. This heavily wooded course is a challenge for even seasoned players, though beginners are, of course, welcome to give it a shot. Don’t forget to download the course map and scorecard to keep track of the most skilled members of your group.

With so much to do in Northwest River Park, why not pack a picnic and spend the day?

From putt-putt to PGA, Chesapeake’s golf options are perfect for those looking to escape and tee off.
