Put-In Locations
Put in at any of the city's prime launch locations, including the Elizabeth River Boat Landing and Park and the(this is not a boat launch - they restrict types of boats that are allowed). Or access the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway via Great Bridge Locks Park and Top Rack Marina.
One of only two natural lakes in Virginia, picturesque Lake Drummond is nestled within the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. It has limited boat access, but is home to crappie, yellow perch, chain pickerel, flier and bullhead catfish. A boat launching permit can be obtained to fish the lake from April 1 to June 15 of each year, and throughout the year, access is allowed via the Dismal Swamp Canal and Feeder Ditch. The boat launch permit is from inside the refuge, but they can access from feeder ditch year round. Click here for more information.
